The development team at Motiva has been working over the past month to release a few features that will make it easier to report on email performance and to quantify our environmental impact as Email Marketers.
Our first product announcement is for Eloqua Insight users. Eloqua’s Campaign Analysis by Segment report has been giving some of you a headache when using Motiva, due to how Motiva handles contacts and segments within transient campaigns.
We’ve released an update that allows you to complete this analysis in Motiva using Motiva Personas.

Our next new feature concerns environmental sustainability. The impact of Email Marketing on the environment may not be the first metric you consider when creating your marketing campaigns, but it’s still worth bearing in mind while we figure out how to colonize Mars.
We did a little digging and the environmental impact is actually more straightforward than we initially expected. Every email we send as marketers takes up a little storage space in a physical data warehouse connected to the cloud. The data warehouse uses electricity to stay up and running 24/7.
So how much carbon, as a by-product of generating that electricity, is released into the atmosphere from each email we send? It may not be much per email, but when you combine the impact of several million emails, it adds up fast.
